What: Our unique Respite and Retreat Program uses the Montessori approach in designing our activities and focuses on rediscovering and supporting Dementia.
While your loved one participates in the Respite program, you may use your Gift of Time to run errands, spend time with friends, or catch up on your hobbies. You may also stay and participate in the day’s activities with your loved one or enjoy socialization with other caregivers in programming designed to help you unwind, relax, learn self-care strategies, or learn something new!
Our Activities Coordinator designs the day's activities to promote engagement, socialization, and lifelong learning for those who participate.
Our volunteer companions receive comprehensive training before taking their first assignment. They help each participant feel welcome and help guide them through the day’s program activities. They may enjoy each other’s company by simply sitting to visit quietly or playing a game together.

Why: Although rewarding, caring for loved ones with dementia can cause stress, health problems, and burnout. Family caregivers should take breaks from their daily routines to recharge, attend appointments, and enjoy some personal time.
Participant Qualifications: A screening will be required for each participant. Participants must be able to self-toilet, eat without manual assistance and self-ambulate with or without assistive devices. Please see Respite Policies and Procedures for additional requirements.
