Newly Diagnosed with Dementia

You're not alone. We're here to help you navigate the path ahead.

You Are Not Alone

Being newly diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or dementia can feel overwhelming—but you don’t have to face this journey alone. Whether you’re still adjusting to the news or actively seeking support, we are here to walk alongside you.

At A Gift of Time, we believe that life with dementia still holds meaning, connection, and joy. Our programs are designed with you in mind—offering encouragement, tools, and community to help you navigate this new chapter.

What to Expect

A diagnosis brings many questions. You might be wondering:

  • What happens next?

  • Will I still be able to do the things I love?

  • Who can I talk to who understands?

We’re here to help you answer those questions—with dignity and compassion.

Find Support and Connection

We offer a Maintaining Memory Skills Group just for individuals like you—those navigating the early stages of memory loss who still want to be active, engaged, and connected with others. This closed group meets regularly and is a welcoming, supportive space where you can:

  • Practice memory strategies and cognitive exercises

  • Share your experiences in a judgment-free setting

  • Build friendships with others who understand

  • Discover new ways to stay active and hopeful

To join the group, you’ll need to be able to participate in group activities and engage socially with peers. If you’re unsure whether the group is right for you, reach out—we’re happy to help you decide.

You Still Matter

A diagnosis does not define who you are. You are still you—with a lifetime of wisdom, stories, and strength. At A Gift of Time, we honor that.

We’re here to help you live well today while planning for tomorrow. We invite you—and those who care about you—to be part of a supportive, understanding community.
